Today is the death anniversary of legendary singer of Hindi cinema Mukesh – it is 36 years ago he died. His songs still live in the memory of the millions of people

It was not just a routine tribute to Mukeshji by Kannada playback singer Sangeetha Katti Kulkarni. Mukesh songs were sung by Sangeetha for the thunderous applause.

Karnataka chief Minister Jagadish Shettar in a packed auditorium at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall on Monday evening lighted the lamp and honored the Dadasaheb Phalke winner VK Murthy. The Chief Minister was present for half an hour at the function.

Former Minister RV Deshpande, Thara Anooradha, MLC and KCA President, Jayanthi, Bhagwan, KSL Swamee, Shanker Bidri, Justice Shivraj Patil, KC Ramamurthy, Smt Savitha, Lahari Venu, Rajan of Rajan Nagendra, Kannada film industry personalities were present at the three hours musical treat.

Mr Shabbir Ahmed and team came from Kerala to provide the lilting symphony of violin, Suresh Yadav of the time of Mukesh was present in saxophone.

BKS Verma painting on Mukesh was unveiled by Jagadish Shettar, CM of Karnataka, Ektha Shah mixing Hindi and English gave introduction to songs sung on the occasion.

It was a Surbahar presentation.
